Considering all of the hype that circulated for months prior to the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S III, there was little doubt that the handset would become a huge hit. While it may not feature every specification we had expected — like the ceramic body or a Super AMOLED Plus display — it has plenty to boast about.
So much so that the device has just become the most pre-ordered Android device ever for Vodafone U.K.
“We’ve been really encouraged by our customers’ response to the Samsung Galaxy S III,” a spokesman told TechRadar. “With over a week to go until launch, it’s already the most pre-ordered Android device we’ve brought into our smartphone line-up to date and our limited time offer of 2GB of mobile data and 100 free music tracks is being snapped up.”
It’s a similar story for British retailer Carphone Warehouse, which said:
“Pre-order demand for the new Galaxy SIII has surpassed expectations since the handset was first unveiled two weeks ago. The first 24 hours alone saw thousands placing their pre-order at Carphone Warehouse.”
According to one Samsung executive, the Galaxy S III managed to attract over 9 million pre-orders in little over a week of availability. That’s pretty incredible when you consider that its predecessor, the Galaxy S II — which was Samsung’s fastest-selling smartphone — took 12 months to sell 20 million units.
Have you pre-ordered yours yet?
